Vertigo, the second – Udo is back!

Barely two weeks had passed when it was said again: Make way for Standard! At the Saturday, May 24, 2025, we rolled out the parquet in the sports hall at Leipziger Platz again – ready for round two with the tireless Udo Rosanski. Last time, still on the right in the Viennese waltz, now stood the left turn on the timetable. Because as the saying goes? “What turns right can also turn left!” Or something like that.

But back to the beginning:

9 o’clock sharp we started with our tournament-proven couples, the – as usual – numerous and motivated people appeared. Udo, in a good mood and full of energy, got started right away. After a short round of “dancing and loosening up,” the action began: The famous left turnOnly six steps, you think? Think again! Udo quickly demonstrated that there’s a lot more to consider – from the right timing to a clean foot placement.

And so we spun – solo and in pairs – happily in circles. Sometimes left, sometimes less left, sometimes even involuntarily backwards. Udo didn’t let up and provided us with tips, tricks and one or two humorous correctionsTime flew, the sweat flowed – and suddenly it was lunchtime.

In the second part of the morning it was about the transitions from right to left (and vice versa) to master smoothly. Here it became clear: It’s the little subtleties that make all the difference. Like a good choreographer, Udo put puzzle piece after puzzle piece – until everything clicked into place. In the truest sense of the word.

Change of pace in the afternoon: From waltz to tango

After a short break At 1:15 pm we continued with part two – this time with our passionate amateur dancers. And while the waltz still echoed, it was now said: Goodbye 3/4 time, hello tango!

The program included four figures, including the Rocking step, the elegant outside swivel and the sonorous “Valentino” with 5 steps – sounds like a lot? It was! But with Udo at our side, even the most complicated step became a pleasure. Some also the pages and experiencedhow it feels to dance in the other role – an exciting experience with an aha effect.

Finally, both groups satisfied (and a bit exhausted) to a thoroughly successful workshop. Small stumbling blocks were removed, new challenges discovered – and that’s exactly why we dance!

A big thank you to Udo Rosanski!

For your time, your energy, and your inexhaustible expertise—it’s always a pleasure to work with you. We stay on track, keep turning—right, left, and sometimes just in circles.
